ABOUT US

Bruins Fighting Pediatric Cancer (BFPC, as we have endearingly abbreviated) was founded by Catherine Pourdavoud in 2009 with the vision to unite UCLA undergraduates in efforts to “Never let cancer cloud the joy of being a kid”. Catherine and her team successfully established the club, with successors actively working year after year to expand and branch out to other organizations with the same mission.

BFPC is devoted to joining the world-wide movement to find a cure for every child with cancer. We pursue our mission in three ways: by raising awareness and educating those who do not know much about pediatric cancer, by volunteering at pediatric oncology clinics, camps, and events, and by fundraising to support pediatric cancer research. To date, BFPC has raised over $17,000 for cancer research!

In the years that have passed since BFPC's founding, we have branched out beyond our UCLA community to collaborate with other organizations with the same vision. These organizations include: The Ronald McDonald House Charities (Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times and the Ronald McDonald Houses of Los Angeles), the UCLA Medical Center, Camp Okizu, Max's Love Project, the NEGU Foundation, Alex's Lemonade Stand and many more.

We hope to inspire a strong community of members to brighten the lives of children, helping them to never let cancer cloud the joy of being a kid!
