What's with all the cranes, you ask? Well, in Japanese tradition, patiently folding 1000 little paper cranes grants someone their most desired wish. In the spirit of this tradition, BFPC holds our annual Cranes for Cancer event. Hundreds of guests gather at UCLA's Carnesale Commons for a night of guest speakers, music, entertainment, and most importantly crane folding. Boxes of 1000 cranes are presented as a wish of good health to invited Pediatric Cancer Hero's and their families by our community. This is what BFPC is all about!

together, we can make a difference in a kid's life

Cranes for Cancer

our signature event

Cranes for Cancer 2016

Our 8th annual Cranes for Cancer was our biggest one yet! With over four thousand cranes completed and 400 guests, we were able to gift four cancer heroes a wish of good health!

Our Pediatric Cancer Hero of the night was Elijah Herman. Together, BFPC and the UCLA Community were able to personally hand Elijah his shadow box of 1000 cranes. Taking it into his arms, he said, ""That is so nice" and kissed the box (A video is posted on the bottom of this page). His radiant smile sums up the night!

Aloha! Welcome to Cranes for Cancer!

This years theme was Beach Party. Outfitted in lei's and some even in 'grass' skirts, our team welcomed guests in into Carnesale Commons for a night of folding and fun.

Decor Galore

BFPC is big on decorations, be it for Relay for Life or our own big events. Months of planning and preparation went into this one night, and we can't thank our 2015 Special Events Chair, Maral, and the decorations committee enough for how wonderful it turned out!

Fold Fold Fold

With a committee of BFPC-ers dedicated to simply teaching guests how to fold paper cranes, reaching 4000+ cranes became easy!

What do Hula Dancing, Mike from Breaking Bad, and an acapella group have in common?

Cranes for Cancer, that's what. This year the Hui O 'Imiloa Hawai'i Club at UCLA put on an amazing hula performance for Crane's guests. A comedian also stepped on the stage to keep the positivity flowing all night. Later, UCLA's YouthPhonics acapella joined the stage to sing a few songs. And, as a surprise, Jonathan Banks who many know as Mike from AMC's Breaking Bad, dropped by to offer his support- he even folded a few cranes!

Guest Speaker: Tish Hearne

Tish Hearne, a representative from Alex's Lemonade Stand who has worked closely with BFPC, came to share her story and inspire our guests. Thank you Tish for your continued support of BFPC!

A Wish of Continued Good Health

After our community folded over 4000 paper cranes, our Pediatric Cancer Hero, Elijah, was called to the stage to be presented with a shadow box of cranes as a wish of continued good health. All the hard work for this event came down to this moment. Cranes for Cancer is dedicated to heroes like Elijah who never let cancer cloud the joy of being a kid! A sincere thank you to Elijah and his family, and all those who made this wonderful night a success!
