What We Do: Volunteer
together, we can make a difference in a kid's life
BFPC has an established volunteer program in the Pediatric Oncology Outpatient care playroom at Mattel Children's Hospital. Our club has dedicated volunteers who work weekly in the playroom making crafts and playing games with the kids. Additionally, BFPC has fortunately started another volunteer program in Mattel, this program centering around Inpatient Bedside volunteering. Hospitals can be overwhelming for many, so volunteers are there to be the ray of light that these kids deserve. Members in good standing are encouraged to apply for this program which takes applications towards the end of fall quarter.
BFPC Volunteer Programs at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital

BFPC has established volunteer programs in Mattel Children’s Hospital, both in partnership with Child Life. The first is the Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Outpatient care program, where dedicated volunteers work weekly in the BFPC playroom making crafts and playing games with the kids before and during doctor appointments. Additionally, BFPC has fortunately started another volunteer program, this one centering around Inpatient Bedside play volunteering. Hospitals can be overwhelming for many, so volunteers are there to be the ray of light that these kids deserve. Members in good standing are encouraged to apply for this program which takes applications towards the end of fall quarter.

Visit the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House

Volunteers visit the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House twice a quarter. We typically bake and decorate cupcakes, and play games with the families staying at the House! It's always a huge reward to work directly with the kids and their families, and to see their faces light up when we give them a prize for winning games like bingo and hide and seek, or for simply being one cool kid!
